About the Artist
Hi, I’m Everett Kinkade Smet
I live in rural Northern California, leading workshops after-hours and finding time for ceramics and watercolor painting any chance I get. I love to play with my dog, grow food, cook with my husband, and binge read novels. Above all else, I find myself wanting to encourage creative freedom and authenticity through my workshops. Everyone has something they want to create. Whatever your something is, I’m here to support it.
Artist Statement
My art draws inspiration from the beauty of the natural world and explores themes of earth-connection and transformation. I incorporate texture and rich, natural tones to enhance the experience of enjoying fresh local food. I seek to make art that deepens earth and human connections and enhances daily life with its functional beauty.
My Maker’s Mark
My maker's mark features my initials which form the shape of a butterfly, representing metamorphosis. I believe metamorphosis occurs on a personal level through the transformative power of art and creativity, which is why I dedicate time to teaching and leading creativity workshops. Metamorphosis also occurs as a critical part of both ceramics and farming, my two passions.
Kinkade Legacy
As the youngest daughter of Thomas Kinkade, my fondest memories of him were when he was happy, healthy, and making art. Sadly, he passed away when I was a teen, and I didn’t get the chance to learn from him the way I would have liked to. As an adult, I have discovered the same love of art that he had, and have self-taught various artistic mediums. I have three profoundly creative sisters and a mother who leads our family with strength and compassion. Our family has continued the Kinkade Legacy of making art accessible to all through the Kinkade Family Foundation.
